I started playing the recorder classically when I was about 6 years old. I started piano lessons almost 2 years later. At 15 or 16, I switched to acoustic guitar and over the years I added the electric guitar. With my school friend at the time, Matthias Harder (drummer SYLVAN), we tried our first steps as a "mini-band". I can even remember one of our first songs....;-) A few months later I asked my twin brother Volker Söhl (keyboards SYLVAN) to join us, which he did. This laid the foundation for the band SYLVAN.

I've been singing since I was 10 years old, started out in a gospel choir (until 2014) and joined my first rock band at the age of 11. Firmly believing that I could make a professional career out of it, I later studied performing arts in Hamburg in the field of singing and dance.
I have remained faithful to the great field of rock to this day, singing in various bands (rock, grunge, metal, rock'n roll or punk - covers and my own compositions), but the time has now come with Vlyes to change that.
Oh yes, I also play guitar - but preferably only around the campfire for everyone involved.

I bought my first guitar at the age of 14 and was convinced that it was possible to make music together with my friends even without any real talent or skill.
We played with our school band at school and graduation parties and were able to delight a very appreciative audience with our self-composed pieces.
After school, work and family came to the fore and there was no room for music for many years.
This only changed in 2014 when I turned to the bass. After a few lessons, I founded a cover band together with a like-minded person. There were many changes in the line-up, but together with Volker Oster, a core line-up crystallized, which was supplemented with various musicians.
This is how I got to know Kay Soehl and his project "Why", which immediately inspired me. To my delight, we were able to recruit my former bass teacher Jockel Lüdecke as guitarist for our band, which now bore the name VLYES.

I discovered the guitar in 1970 - and haven't really put it down since. This was followed by countless bands with repeated successes. As my desire to make music my profession grew stronger and stronger, I started teaching in the mid-1980s.
At the beginning of the 90s, I switched to the professional camp.
This was followed by studio work, jobs as an accompanist, further training in private lessons and workshops, including in Sweden. Later I expanded my repertoire and shifted my focus to composing, playing bass and drums as well as singing, keyboards and music productions in my home studio.
Furthermore, I was/am on the road with various constellations, both with original compositions and with cover programs, from a duo to a 6-piece band. ...and now with full commitment at VLYES...

After banging on all my parents' pots, pans, and lamps and arranging them to form a makeshift drum kit, I eventually got my first real drums and lessons at six years old. From the beginning, I always enjoyed playing rock songs with my dad or friends who could play some chords on the guitar or piano. As I grew up, I was constantly playing in different rock, metal, and punk bands. After focusing more on becoming a classically trained percussionist during my time at university, I'm now very happy to reconnect with my rock roots by joining Vlyes
